Red Carpet style at the 85th Academy Awards

One of the most awaited night of cinema, glitz and high fashion glamour, the 85th Academy Awards was held at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, California on Sunday, 24th Feb' 13.

Neutral hues, dramatic trains, metallic gowns, embellishments, couture and high street label swamped the Red Carpet at the 85th Academy Awards 2013.High fashion labels, Dior and Giorgio Armani ruled the red carpet followed by likes of Alexander McQueen, Elie Saab, Prada ,Oscar de la Renta, Versace and others. In a surprising and very unconventional red carpet twist, courtesy Oscar nominated actress Helen Hunt, chose to wear an eco- friendly custom made blue silk gown from Swedish high- street retailer H&M.

The voluminous gown of Best Actress award winner, Jennifer Lawrence and stunning stark white peplum strapless gown of Charlize Theron -both from Dior Couture looked magically stunning and swept the red carpet. As a matter of fact, the voluminous gown landed Ms.Lawrence into trouble when she tripped up the stairs collecting her Oscar, however she somehow managed to gracefully pull it off. Picking up the Oscar, she said: "You guys are just standing up because I fell, and it's so embarrassing....”.

Jessica Chastain reflected a classic Hollywood glamour in a nude custom Armani Prive gown. Naomi Watts, also in Armani Prive , dazzled in a futuristic one -shoulder beaded asymmetrical gown.

Anne Hathaway (minus the overexposed breasts which got Twitter buzzing) looked smashing in a pink satin halter column by Prada. Amy Adams literally floated when she made a grand entrance in a powder blue ball gown with a tulle train. Amanda Seyfried glowed in a custom made gold embroidered lilac Alexander McQueen halter gown.

Kerry Washington added pop of color in a sparkling crystal encrusted bodice, gold and coral Miu Miu gown. 75 year old Jane Fonda looked flawless and rocked the red carpet in a floor length yellow Atelier Versace gown with a cut-out back. Samantha Barks embodied subdued glamour in a classic Valentino gown with a deep V in the front while Jennifer Aniston added colour and drama in a strapless red Valentino couture gown.

While Nicole Kidman wore a shimmery black and gold square-cut neckline L'Wren Scott gown, singer and actress Jennifer Hudson added some more glitter in a metallic blue Roberto Cavalli gown. Reese Witherspoon painted it blue in a Louis Vuitton strapless bright royal blue gown with black across to the top.

Olivia Munn's ruby-hued floating train satin gown with intricate gold embroidery on the bodice and Fan Bingbing's strapless gown adorned with voluminous layers of taffeta - both from Marchesa, looked regal and elegant. Jennifer Garner’s custom Gucci Première violet silk crepe strapless column gown with a dramatic ruffled back redefined elegance.

Zoe Saldana bloomed on the red carpet in a white Alexis Mabille Couture gown with a petal-like detailing on the bodice. Halle Berry looked sharp in a striped plunging metallic Versace gown while Salma Hayek looked stunning in a midnight blue velvet gown by Alexander McQueen with a woven gold neck detail.

The Red Carpet at the Oscars is one of those finest moments, which never disappoints when it comes to stunning style and fashion.
