Vogue Thailand's
debut issue completely sold out within days, and what’s more unconventional and
notable is that in its 120 years of existence, the magazine for its Thai
edition hired Vogue's first male editor-in-chief ever, Kullawit Laosuksri.
Vogue Thailand
is the 21st international edition of the Fashion glossy. The debut
cover didn’t feature a single garment, just a model wearing a traditional chada
headgear.
He told Thailand's
The Nation newspaper : "For the Thai edition, we also want to present Thai
women's cheerful attitude and lifestyle. For the first issue we wanted a chada,
which is internationally recognized and has a sophisticated design. We searched
the archives of the master of the craft, Chakrabhan Posayakrit, and then asked
Phillip Treacy, a world-renowned maker of headdresses, to create a chada we
could display on our cover."
